How to take meaningless tasks off your plate
I am in full swing with my busiest work season of the year. It’s stressful, exciting, and rewarding, and I love it. But one thing I will not sacrifice is family time. In order to do that I have to be very conscious of how I’m spending my time. It’s not always easy but I am always looking for ways to save time.
Time Is The One Resource You Cannot Create More Of
And let’s just acknowledge that mom guilt is a real thing! As much as I want to say it’s not, it is. At least for me it is, so the more time I get with the kids the better I feel. If I can find a way to cut down on the other million things I need to do to keep our lives running smoothly I’ll take it.
Here’s 5 Tips To Save Time In Your Everyday Life:
- Amazon Subscribe & Save. If you’ve never used this feature in Amazon you are missing out! I use it for items that I don’t want to even think about but I know we will always need more of. When you sign up to automatically receive at least five items you also save 15%. Saving time and money is a win-win! Every two months I get toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, laundry detergent, and toothpaste delivered right to my door. There are no emergency grocery trips or last minute scrambling because it’s here when we need it.
- Anylist. This app is my go-to for lists. It allows my husband and oldest daughter to share lists of items we need. They both know if they want something from the grocery store it better be on the list. Don’t even think about telling me instead of adding it to the list because I will never remember! We have lists for the grocery store, target (okay… that’s mainly me), home depot, and the drug store. This saves me time by not having to text back and forth asking what we need, or if anyone needs anything. Put it on the list!
- Stitch Fix. I love clothes shopping more than the next woman, but who has the time? I wish it was me but it’s not. Honestly, if I have a free day I don’t want to be in a crowded mall wasting hours to find one or two things I love. I’d much rather head to the beach or a walking trail with the family. In comes Stitch Fix. It’s a personal shopping service without the full cost of a personal shopper.
- House Cleaner. This is a dream! I know budgets may be tight but if you can find a way to outsource house cleaning you will never look back. This not only frees up time but also sanity. Ask yourself, what could I be doing with the time it takes to clean the house? We have a big house and with 3 kids (and a husband) it needs constant attention. There’s no way I can be the best mom, wife, business owner, and the hundred other hats I need to wear if I’m constantly worn out. Mom needs a break! And having someone to help with the cleaning allows me that time.
- Grocery Pick-up. I’m not sure if this makes me odd or not, but I enjoy grocery shopping. What I don’t enjoy is finding the time to do it. If I have free time I don’t want to use it at the grocery store! Scheduling an order pickup at the local grocery store is such a time saver. You go online and create an order, tell them when you want it, then pick it up at that time. Easy peasy. Some of you may have access to a grocery delivery service. I’m not that lucky.
This list may be simple, but it is effective in saving time. This gives me more time to focus on client work, growing and improving my business, or to spend with family.
I’d love to know what tips you have for me!
